With the growing popularity of eBooks and of devices like the Amazon Kindle, the B&N Nook, and the Apple iPad, the eBook market has seen a huge surge in author and publisher focus.

eBook Architects, the leading US-based eBook development and design company, is hiring for multiple positions as it grows to fill the needs of its clients.

eBook Architect

An eBook Architect is responsible for the development, design, quality assurance, and testing of eBook files. This involves cleaning up HTML code for both human and program readability, and designing the eBook within the capabilities of the various eBook formats and platforms. All applicants should have the following skills:

  • The ability to hand-code clean HTML and CSS
  • Detail oriented and able to follow instructions easily
  • Ability to manage time and work independently
  • Regular Expressions and/or scripting skills are a plus
  • Please note that we do not use WYSIWYG Editors. All formatting is done by hand-coding clean XHTML and CSS, and running proprietary scripts. You will be tested on your ability to code clean XHTML and CSS during the interview.

This is an entry level position, and a perfect opportunity to join a solid small business in a rapidly-growing and far-reaching market.

Pay: $12 per hour (full-time) during 3-month probation, $30,000 annual salary afterward

Benefits: Health insurance stipend, paid holidays, 2 weeks vacation

Schedule: Generally M-F, 9-5; closed on weekends and all Jewish holidays. After training, schedules can be more flexible.

Assistant Project Manager

The Assistant Project Manager spends the majority of time on project coordination and related functions. They use independent judgment and complex analysis to gather facts and determine appropriate solutions generally based on past experience and company practice. Similar to a Production Assistant at a publishing house, the Assistant Project Manager performs the following functions:

  • Develops and determines priorities and monitors status of special projects.
  • Tracks and analyzes progress of production projects.
  • Assists in Directing/Coordinating all project activities through development process
  • Manages priorities of the production queue as appropriate
  • Serves as liaison between company and vendors
  • Verifies accuracy of project details as entered into company systems
  • Other duties, as assigned by Project Manager

Required Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Specialized training in administrative skills (such as Word, and Excel). Business experience is a plus.

Required Experience: Proven ability to consistently improve upon and create & implement new processes within the framework of office procedures. Must be familiar with common business practices. Four years administrative experience including advanced independent duties is preferred, as is familiarity with the eBook or publishing industry.

All candidates must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Project Manager, and must be comfortable with technology.

A real passion for eBooks or publishing is a definite plus.

Pay: $13 per hour, full-time
